Each term we focus on a specific topic such as “Shapes”, which we explore across the areas of learning.

foundation stage

Little Owls follows the Foundation Stage curriculum and is monitored by Ofsted on a regular basis. The ethos of this curriculum is “learning through play” and it is made up of six areas of learning:

 

Cookery sessions will also take place every Tuesday and Thursday.

· Using language to describe two and three dimensional shapes.

· Recognising and matching shapes.

· Looking for different shapes in the environment.

· Taking part in parachute and circle games.

· Creating shape prints and patterns.

· Discovering the properties of flat and solid shapes.

· Weaving a square.

· Practising letter formation

· Making shaped sandwiches, jellies and cakes.

· Constructing train tracks and building with bricks.

· Making models from junk.

· Exploring ice shapes.

· personal, social and emotional development;

· mathematical development;

· communication, language and literacy development;

· physical development;

· knowledge and understanding of the world;

· and creative development.
